A BRIEF JEWISH THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
JANUARY 27 – International Holocaust Remembrance Day
On the same day we braced for, and prepared and protected ourselves from, a massive storm, we also recalled the anniversary of an even greater and much more evil storm…by remembering the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Make no mistake about it. Big storms happen and only fools close their eyes. The best we can do with nature’s storms, since we can’t stop them, is to protect ourselves as best as possible. Storms caused by human beings are different. We, or those we authorize, can work to prevent them or turn them aside. I juxtapose two pictures for your consideration – neither are gruesome.
