Thanks to the community’s generosity, the 2020 Annual Fund raised nearly $50,000 to support our shul during Covid and reinforce our religious school. Stay tuned for news about the 2021 Annual Fund.

Women’s Network (formerly known as Sisterhood)
The primary philanthropic/tzedakah mission of the Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills Women’s Network is to promote and support the welfare of Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills and its Religious School. To do so, Women’s Network, its Board of Directors and its membership at large participates and supports the activities of the Temple. This includes the sponsorship of cultural and educational activities throughout the year. Women’s Network is an active, responsive partner in the leadership of our Temple thus helping to foster a greater sense of community within the Temple Family.

Our two endowment funds have a particular focus. As is usual with endowments, principal investments are untouchable and are invested for perpetuity. Only the interest earned is spent annually. Click on the Endowment Fund title to donate to one of our Endowment Funds.
Established in 2011 the Endowment Fund provides general operational funds supplementary to dues, tuitions, and other ordinary payments and contributions, for use in maintaining the highest possible level of religious, educational, cultural, and social activities, programs, and services for its members and the Jewish community. The initial principal of this fund may not be spent by the Congregation unless the viability of the existence of the synagogue is at stake and 2/3 of the Board of Directors votes to approve use of the principal. This fund is intended to assure the continued presence of a Jewish community on the South Shore in perpetuity.
The interest on this fund directly supports our Religious School. Currently this fund supports tuition subsidies in the amount of $290 per student. It also supports fees for Jewish summer camp and fees for continuing Jewish education by members of the Congregation.

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”
When you purchase Scrip you’re purchasing gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used the same way you would use cash to shop in supermarkets, pharmacies, (CVS or Walgreens), clothing stores, restaurants, home improvements stores etc. The difference is that our Temple will earn a percentage each time Scrip is purchased. There is no additional charge to you. $25.00 for $25.00 or $100 for $100.
